Lake Powell - July - Second Time

The Lake Powell May trip was good, but this June trip was better.  The water was very warm, the temperatures were high, the skiing was great, the company was really good.  On this trip, Craig and Judy Christensen were going to come, but Judy got pneumonia and was in the hospital the whole time we were at Powell.  Two of their kids came with their families - Craig Jr and his wife Angie and their children Jessie, Sierra, Colton and Hannah.  Jeff came with his son Cody.  From our family, we had Curt and Melanee (these guys are the regulars now) and Marc, Brittney, Mason, Ali and Tyce.  What a treat having these young ones.  With Craig and Judy cancelling, Scott Robison and his grandson Ryker begged to go.  Scott and Marianne will be leaving in October for their mission to the Netherlands, so he had to get one last Lake Powell excursion in.

Yea, like Marc could have a gut like dad.
Theron is trying out Tyce's wading pool.
Mason and Ali were little fish, they got in the water most of the day and of course someone had to be there with them, so many times I was in the water - on this trip I felt water logged.  That's perhaps the most time I have spent in the water.  Little Tyce didn't like the water with his jacket on so he spent his days running up and down the hall in the boat, touching everything, exploring how things worked, and opening and closing the sliding doors.  No doubt Brittney was tired after this vacation.  Tyce didn't sleep well so they would load him on the jet ski and away they would go; about two minutes out, Tyce was asleep.  What a great water bed.

Everyone (except me of course) skied to until their were tired, sore and sunburned.  Even Curt was getting to tired to drive the boat and asked Scott to take the group skiing so he could have a nap.

There were the usual hikes and the water was high enough that the group could hike to the Indian ruins down Escalante.  Great time, great memories, love the family for coming.

What else do you do when you're too tired to swim and play?  You have Sierra paint your face.

Bathroom Remodel

Guess for now we have decided to stay in the house so we are doing a much needed bathroom remodel and putting in new tile especially a walkway around the family room.  I keep asking myself why I didn't put a tiled walkway there from the beginning.  I was dumb and young and didn't know much about building a house.  I hate hindsight, it's always so clear what should have been.

Again, Theron showed his knowledge of things as he cut each time piece exactly.  I can't express enough gratitude to Curt for taking a couple of nights to come help lay the pieces together.  There was only one lost time injury - me.  I tripped over a flower pot and went down on my right elbow and shoulder.  My elbow still hurts.  What a klutz I am.  My pride is still bruised.

We are of course working on this project when we are home, so this might take a while.  Right now the tile is done, the carpet is in place, the toilet is re-set, the vanity is painted.

Our Favorite Son-in-Law turns 40??!! How did that happen.

On June 26, Todd celebrated a 40 year milestone.  He is a precious son-in-law and great husband and father.  We celebrate this special occasion.  We are glad to see he still plays with the kids, mountain bikes, water skis and is full of life.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODD!

Look at that buff 40 year old.

June 14, 1974 - June 14, 2014: 40 Years Together and Still in Love

On June 14, this year, we celebrated our 40th anniversary.  What a ride these past 40 years have been.  We have traveled around the world, raised three of the greatest children on earth, served a mission, lived in Chicago and Minnesota, had great careers and still kneel in prayer each night before we go to bed!  I know I couldn't have dreamed of a life more wonderful.

We had a hard time deciding how to celebrate and decided on a Corvette trip to Lake Tahoe, Nevada.  It was perfect.  We drove to Reno and completely around Lake Tahoe, visited Carson City and Nevada City and drove Highway 49 with all the little towns along the way.  We hiked at Emerald Bay, visited the Donner Museum and drove around Donner Lake, ate at Jax Truckee Diner in Truckee, walked the old towns and even rode an old train in Carson City.

The ride was beautiful and the weather was perfect for a little convertible driving.

This was our little bed and breakfast bungalow in Nevada City.

A New Year - 2024

As with all new years, I approach it with some goals in mind and expecting changes to occur in both our life and the lives of our family.  ...
